West Northamptonshire is a unitary authority area in the East Midlands, created in 2021. It includes the historic county town of Northampton, as well as the districts of Daventry and South Northamptonshire. The area blends the urban centre of Northampton—historically a major hub for footwear and leather goods—with the rolling countryside of the Northamptonshire uplands. It has a population of approximately 415,000. Notable landmarks include Althorp House (ancestral home of the Spencer family), the Canal Museum at Stoke Bruerne, the Silverstone Circuit (partly within the authority), and the ruins of Holdenby House.
