1. Overview
OnlineMapMaker.com ("we", "us", "our") is operated by KONAKTIVE, a Pakistan-based IT company. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you visit onlinemapmaker.com or use any of our free online GIS and mapping tools.
We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with applicable data protection law, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) where applicable.
By using our website you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy. If you disagree with any part, please discontinue use and contact us with any concerns.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in two ways:
2a. Information You Provide Voluntarily
We do not require an account to use our tools. We only collect personal data if you choose to interact with us directly, for example by:
- Submitting a contact form or sending an email to info@onlinemapmaker.com
- Signing up for a newsletter or email updates (opt-in only)
- Completing a survey or feedback form
In these cases we may collect your name, email address, and the content of your message.
2b. Information Collected Automatically
When you visit our website, certain technical data is collected automatically by our servers and third-party services:
- Log data — IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and date/time of access.
- Cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies — see Section 5 for full details. Web beacons (also called pixel tags or tracking pixels) are small, often invisible graphics embedded in pages or emails that let us and our advertising partners confirm that content was viewed and measure ad performance.
- Analytics data — aggregated usage statistics via Google Analytics (page views, session duration, traffic sources). This data is anonymised and cannot identify you personally.
- Geolocation / GPS data— many tools (e.g. "My Location", "Locate Me", EV Charging Stations Finder, Postal Code Finder, Elevation Finder) can request your device's precise location via the browser Geolocation API. This only happens when you actively click a location button — we never track your location automatically or in the background.
- Tools that only centre the map or display your coordinates process this data entirely within your browser; it is never sent to our servers.
- Tools that look up information near you — such as finding a nearby address, EV charging stations, postal code, or ground elevation — send your coordinates to our server, which forwards the request to a third-party data provider (e.g. OpenStreetMap Nominatim, Open Charge Map) and returns the result. We do not store these coordinates in a database; they may appear briefly in standard server request logs (see Section 9) but are never linked to your identity, sold, or used for advertising.
- GPS coordinates embedded in photo metadata (EXIF) that you view or edit with our Geotag Photos tool are read and written entirely within your browser — your photos are never uploaded to our servers.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes, each grounded in a lawful basis under GDPR:
| Purpose | Lawful Basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|

4. Google AdSense & Advertising
OnlineMapMaker.com uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. This helps fund the platform so all tools remain free. As a consequence of using this Google service, Google AdSense and its partners may place and read cookies on your browser, use web beacons, IP addresses, or other identifiers to serve ads that are relevant to you based on your interests and prior browsing activity.
Google and its partners may:
- Place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons and similar identifiers, to serve ads based on your prior visits to our site and other websites across the internet.
- Collect data about your browsing behaviour, including via your IP address, to build interest profiles for targeted advertising.
- Use the DoubleClick cookie to measure ad performance and prevent you from seeing the same ad repeatedly.
Personalised advertising is only active if you have given your consentvia our cookie consent banner. You may withdraw consent at any time using the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer.
You can also manage or opt out of personalised ads directly:
For more information on how Google uses data, see How Google uses information from sites that use our services.
6. Third-Party Services & Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. We may share non-personal, aggregated, or anonymised data with trusted service providers solely for the purpose of operating and improving this website.
Third-party services we use include:
- Google Analytics — website traffic analysis (anonymised data).
- Google AdSense — ad delivery (requires consent; see Section 4).
- Google Maps Platform / OpenStreetMap — map tile rendering within our tools. These providers may log tile requests from your IP address.
- Location & mapping data lookups — when a tool looks up an address, postal code, elevation, time zone, or nearby point of interest for you, we proxy that single request through our own server to the relevant data provider and return the result. We do not create accounts with these providers on your behalf and do not store your query in a database. Providers used this way include OpenStreetMap Nominatim (address / reverse geocoding), OpenCage (postal code geocoding), Open-Meteo (time zone lookup), Open Charge Map (EV charging stations), and OpenTopoData (elevation).
- Hosting / CDN providers — infrastructure to serve the website globally.
Each third-party service operates under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review the Google Privacy Policy for details on how Google processes data.
We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of OnlineMapMaker.com, our users, or others.
