About Split PDF Files
Sometimes a PDF has too much in it: a scanned book that should be broken into chapters, a report that only needs one page shared with a colleague, or a file too large for an email attachment limit. Konvity’s Split PDF tool divides a single PDF into multiple files using whichever approach fits the task, entirely in your browser, so the document never has to leave your device.
Upload a PDF and every page is rendered as a small preview thumbnail, so you can see exactly what you’re working with before choosing how to split it. Page Ranges mode offers three options: split automatically into one file per page, into fixed-size chunks you define (a 30-page file split into groups of 3 becomes 10 files), or into custom ranges you list yourself, adding as many from-to page ranges as you need, each becoming its own file.Pages mode shows every page in a grid you can check individually, with Select All, Deselect All, and Select Randomly helpers, and produces a single PDF containing exactly the pages you picked, in their original order. File Size mode takes a maximum size you enter and divides the document into as few files as possible while keeping every one of them at or under that limit, measured against the file it actually builds, not an estimate.
Every result appears with its own preview thumbnail and file size, plus an individual Download button, and a “Download All (ZIP)” button bundles every output file into one archive when a split produces more than one. Split PDF only copies your existing pages into smaller files; it does not add a logo, watermark, or footer to the output the way some of Konvity’s other PDF tools do when they build a new combined document, so every split file is an exact, unmodified copy of the pages it contains. There is no account to create and no limit on how many times you split a document.

What are the three ways to split a PDF with this tool?

Is there a limit on the PDF file I upload?
The PDF you upload must be 50MB or smaller. There is no fixed limit on how many pages it can have, though very large documents take longer to load thumbnails for and to split.
Does splitting reduce the quality of my PDF?
No. Every output file is built by copying the original pages directly, not by converting them to images, so text stays selectable and searchable and vector graphics stay sharp at any zoom level.
Does the split PDF have a watermark or logo added to it?
No. Unlike some of our other PDF tools that combine your files into a new document, Split PDF only divides your existing pages into smaller files. Nothing is added, removed, or altered on any page, so each output file is an exact copy of the original pages it contains.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
Not currently. Password-protected or encrypted PDFs cannot be read by the tool and show an error when you try to upload one. Remove the password first (using the software that created the file) and then split it.
How accurate is the File Size mode?
Each output file is measured after it is actually built, so it always stays at or under the size you entered. If a single page is so large on its own that it cannot fit under your chosen limit (for example, a page with a very large embedded image), that page is still delivered as its own file and clearly flagged as exceeding the limit, rather than being silently cut off.
How do I download all the split files at once?
Every result also has its own Download button, but the Download All (ZIP) button bundles every output file from that split into a single .zip archive so you do not have to download them one by one.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The file is read, split, and reassembled entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your document is never uploaded to Konvity or any third party.
