Find the Postal Code of Any Location Worldwide

Our Postal Code Finder is a free web map tool that lets you instantly look up the postal code or ZIP code of any location on Earth. Simply click anywhere on the interactive map and the tool will perform a reverse geocode lookup to retrieve the postcode, town, and country for that exact point.

You can also type an address, street name, place name, or postcode into the search bar to zoom the map to that location and look up its code. For mobile users, the Use My Location button uses your device GPS to find your current postcode instantly — useful when you are in an unfamiliar area or travelling.

Key Features

  • Click the Map — click any point worldwide to get the postal code for that location instantly

How to Use the Postal Code Finder — Step by Step

1Click anywhere on the map

A marker is placed at the clicked point. The tool performs a reverse geocode lookup and shows the postal code in a popup and in the info bar at the bottom of the map.

2Search by address or place name

Type an address, city, postcode, or landmark into the search box and press Enter. The map zooms to the location and the postal code is retrieved automatically.

3Use My Location for your current postcode

Click the "My Location" button and allow browser access to your GPS. The map will zoom to your position and display your current postal code — ideal when you are in an unfamiliar area.

4Switch basemap for better context

Use the Street / Satellite / Terrain buttons to change the background map. Satellite view helps identify the exact building or field; Terrain view shows the surrounding landscape.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I find the postal code of my current location?
A: Click the "My Location" button on the toolbar. Your browser will ask for permission to access your GPS. Once allowed, the map zooms to your position and the postal code is displayed in the popup and info bar.
Q: Which countries are supported?
A: The tool uses OpenStreetMap Nominatim which has postcode data for most countries worldwide. Coverage is best in Europe, North America, Australia, and Japan. Some rural areas or countries with incomplete OSM data may not return a postcode.
Q: Why does the tool show "No postal code found"?
A: Not every location in OpenStreetMap has postcode data attached — this is common in rural areas, oceans, and some developing countries. Try clicking a nearby town centre or searching for a specific address for better results.
Q: Can I search by coordinates?
A: Yes — type decimal coordinates in "lat, lng" format (e.g. "51.5074, -0.1278") into the search box and press Enter. The map will jump to that point and look up the postal code.
Q: Is this tool free?
A: Yes — completely free with no sign-up, no account, and no usage limits.
